Dear intentional parents,
As the holiday slips by and school resumes shortly, the onus is on us to encourage our children to continue reading independently and read other non-academic books. Independent reading provides students an opportunity to explore topics they might not otherwise have a chance to and equips them with a multitude of lenses through which to see the world.
Now that the holiday is over, The habit of reading should not be discouraged by telling the children to only read their school books rather, they should be guided on reading appropriately.
Set up systems and structures in your homes that enable them to read both the academic and non-academic books for balanced knowledge acquisition, improved comprehension and a lifelong love for reading.
This practice of continuous reading whether on holidays or not offers quite a number of benefits both to the child and the parent.
A few of the rewards include:
- Improved vocabulary and language skills
- Enhanced critical thinking and analytical abilities
- Boosted creativity and imagination
- Improved focus and concentration skills
To support parents on this, Tender learners will curate a list of 10 – 15 books suitable for your child to read at least a book per week throughout the school term. To claim your offer click here
Also, the Tender Learners library is open for children to borrow books and return for a token.
After each read, encourage your child to do a summary, analyzing what they have read. This will reinforce understanding and retention of what they have read.
And for the parent, when your child loves reading, you will experience reduced stress, and more open communication with your child leading to better parent-child bonding.
